Mass Effect: Andromeda release date potentially revealed

It appears that Dark Horse comics has made a bit of a mistake! In an Amazon listing for their upcoming Mass Effect Andromeda art book, they reveal that it will be launching on March 21st, and that it will launch at the same time as the game. Oops!

This of course is no confirmation, and even if it is true, release dates change all the time. So as always, take this with a touch of salt.

Lgndary Thoughts - A Potential Sony Handheld Leak

Earlier this week, a boxart for a PS4 slim appeared online, and then ended up being unboxed, and booted up, all within 24 hours. I don’t think I have ever witnessed something go from a complete unknown, to being turned on in somebody’s house before. But while the new PS4 is neat, something more interesting may have come out of all of this. Welcome to Lgndary Thoughts.

One of the reasons why many believed the PS4 Slim leak early on is because of a leak that appeared a couple of months ago. Someone claimed that they worked at Playstation manufacturing facility, and they talked a little bit about what they had seen being made there. That leak wasn't talked about much at the time because there was no way to prove what was said, but the PS4 Slim leak has given the claims a lot of validity.

The alleged manufacturing worker drew a picture of what he claimed was a smaller PS4 being built at his factory. And the drawing looks strikingly like the console that leaked. Now, this could have been luck, or he could be being deceptive with the other two items mentioned, but they are still worth talking about.

Along with a smaller PS4, the Foxconn worker also said a much bigger, and heavier, PS4 was being built. I think we can all assume that this is the PS4 Neo. Nothing interesting there. But the last thing he talked about, is very intriguing. He claims that he isn't working on this directly, but that he has friends who have worked on a “PSP like device”.

My first thought is that it is the upcoming Nintendo NX. But as many have pointed out, it is far too early for Nintendo to have started the manufacturing process. And while I still believe that Sony working on any kind of handheld is very unlikely, it isn't completely outside the realm of possibility.

For the sake of the argument, I am going to assume that this is not a PS Vita 2 or any kind of brand new system. I believe that if this is already being manufactured, it can’t be anything other than a Vita refresh. Even still, I believe the Vita could benefit a lot from getting a small update. The first thing I would want them to do is make this system more remote play friendly. Remote play is great, but I have never used it for more than a few minutes on the Vita due to the lack of certain buttons. A second set of triggers, as well as clickable thumbsticks would do wonders for remote play.

There are plenty of other things that I would like Sony to add to the PS Vita, but if they are going to release a revision, I can’t imagine it would be for anything other than to improve remote play. But like I said, this is just a rumor, and a very sketchy one at that. I wouldn't bank on Sony revealing any kind of handheld, but it is still fun to speculate about what they could do. Let me know in the comments below what you would like to see in a possible revision for the PS Vita!

RUMOR - No Man's Sky has been delayed

The following images come from a source tied to Kotaku. They say that they received promotional material for No Man's Sky, but also instructions to cover up the release date as it has been delayed.

Like always, take this with a grain of salt because it is a rumor.

Rumor - Titanfall 2 image leaked

According to the rumor, new pilot abilities have been added such as a grappling hook. Maps are also said to be bigger when compared to the first game. This is a rumor, so take it with a grain of salt, but it does look pretty solid to me.

RUMOR - WatchDogs 2 Protagonist Leaked

An actor has posted the above image to instagram as well as the following:

Had a blast doing motion capture work as the lead character in a new video game series! (= #actor #motioncapture #artist #videogames #ps4 #xbox #art #work #comingsoon #WatchDogs2

To be honest I can see this being real. Ubisoft has said that Watchdogs 2 would launch before the end of next year, meaning an official announcement could be soon. And every so often actors aren't aware of how much digging video game fans are capable of. Mistakes like this happen every so often. Having said that, take this with a huge grain of salt until Ubisoft makes an official announcement.

SPECULATION - Next Call of Duty titled Infinite Warfare

Someone snagged this screenshot of a game called Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare on the PS Store. It appears to be real, but don't believe it completely until we get an official announcement.

Lgndary Thoughts - The Next God of War

A new batch of rumors have popped up this week. And instead of being about a new console, or an upgrade to a console, it is about an individual game. God of War. Welcome to Lgndary Thoughts!

The latest rumor regarding God of War has stated that the next game in the series will be based off of norse mythology. I have not posted this rumor to the site because I am very, very cautious about posting any rumor that doesn't look guaranteed. But I would still like to discuss it here.

In the concept art, it appears that the main character will yet again be Kratos. He looks a lot different, but it is definitely Kratos. So here is the question: is it actually the Kratos we know from the original trilogy? Or is it a reimagining of Kratos? Either way, I will be quite disappointed if Kratos is in the game at all.

I loved the God of War trilogy. The gameplay, the bosses, the story, I thought it was all great. But the worst thing about the series was Kratos. He wasn't likable in the slightest, and I think it hurt the game to some degree.

My ideal follow up to the God of War series would be set in a new mythology, with a brand new player character. I seriously have no idea why Santa Monica is so insistent on keeping Kratos as a main character.

Again, all of this information is based on a rumor, a rumor that I felt was not very reliable. Either way, a new God of War game is on the way, and maybe soon. Where would you like to see the series go? And do you think Kratos should continue to be the main character? Let me know in the comments!

WSJ: Sony planning new, more powerful PS4

Coming from the Wall Street Journal:

Sony Corp. is planning to sell a more powerful version of its PlayStation 4 machine to handle higher-end gaming experiences, including virtual reality, people familiar with the matter said, while continuing production of its existing console that has so far sold more than 36 million units world-wide.

Existing PlayStation 4 owners would need to buy the new model to take full advantage of the enhanced graphics and power, though it is likely that the current model and the coming one would share the same software catalog, one of the people said.

The new console would be announced before the planned October release of the PlayStation VR, Sony’s new virtual-reality headset, the people said. It would be able to handle ultra-high-definition resolution graphics. The upgraded console would also provide more power for running the PlayStation VR, whose main competitors, Facebook Inc.’s Oculus Rift and HTC Corp.’s Vive, are designed to work with top-shelf computers.

As long as every game continues to release on their old system, I would be fine if this news turned out to be true. Remember, this is just a rumor, so take it with some salt.

RUMOR - Sony working on a more powerful PS4

Kotaku has reported that they have had multiple sources come to them and tell them about a new console that Sony is working on. This isn't the PS5, but rather an upgrade to the PS4. Here is a portion of the Kotaku article:

Based on conversations with developers who have spoken with Sony, this ‘PS4.5’ will include an upgraded GPU both to support high-end 4K resolution for games and add more processing power that can enhance the games supported by PlayStation VR, the headset Sony will launch this fall. It’s unclear if ‘PS4.5’ is an official name or just a nickname that developers have been using. One developer jokingly called it the ‘PS4K’ while telling me about the device.
