Lgndary Thoughts - What Are You Playing?

Happy Friday everyone! I hope all that celebrate had a great Thanksgiving last week. I know I had a lot of fun hanging out with my brother and sister who came up from out of town! For the Thought this week, I decided to have a lighter discussion to ease us into the weekend. What are you playing?

As usual, I will start with Final Fantasy XIV. I actually don’t have much to talk about. I beat the current raid tier about a month ago, so I haven't needed to spend as much time in the game. I still log in every day to do dailies and hang out, but other than that there isn't anything to report.

Moving on, I have also been playing a lot of Bloodborne lately. Despite owning it since launch, I haven't really played it at all. I know, I know, shame on me. I did play it for a little bit when it launched, but got stuck on the second boss and moved on to other games. So now I decided to start a new file, and push on! I am happy to say that I have made it past the second boss, and much further. I still have a long ways to go, but I am happy with the progress I have made. The game terrifies me, especially where I’m at currently, but I am loving the hell out of it and could see it becoming one of my favorite games of all time.

In regards to my Switch, I have actually gone back to Splatoon 2 since beating Super Mario Odyssey. I had taken a break from the game for a few months, but I just couldn’t resist jumping back in after the recent update. I’m still maining the charger weapon class, and luckily it hasn’t taken too long to get back in the swing of things. I still have a lot of training before I can use the E liter charger effectively, but I’ll get there someday.

But all of that is about to stop as soon as I pick up Xenoblade Chonicles 2 today! It is my first Xenoblade game, but I could not be more stoked.

What about you? It’s your turn to let me know what you’ve been playing for the past month or so. Or even just the games your looking forward to playing in the near future. Be sure to leave a comment below, and have a great weekend!

I’m back to playing Final Fantasy XIV. Took a couple weeks or months off, not really sure, time’s been blending together. I'm finally on the last quest of the main 4.0 expansion “Stormblood.” (The quest name.) I’m WAY behind and not up on any of the game meta, but I hope to eventually get caught up.

Otherwise just my usual Overwatch matches. Taking a little break from playing competitive though, it was burning me out. But I play at least one or two “quick play” matches near daily.

And like you, I picked up Xenoblade Chronicles 2 as well. I’ve played each game in the series so far and am glad “2” is more like the first one rather than “X.” I’ll be interested to hear what you think of it. Good luck in Alrest!

I'm not picking up xenoblade chronicles 2 yet, but I really enjoyed X. As someone whose played all 3 xenoblade games now, which would you say you prefer?

Now in all fairness, I’m not very far into Xenoblade 2 yet, but of three games, I think the first one is still my favorite. Mainly because of the story and environments. That of course may change depending on how I feel about “2” as I get further in.

What about you? Did you play the first one on Wii? And how did you feel that compared to “X”? Oh, Monolithsoft’s president recently stated he’d like to bring “X” to the Switch.

I played Xenoblade Chronicles on the 3ds for a little bit and to be honest I'm not a big fan of the combat, I like moving around and being active, but the music, weapons, characters, and story all kept me in X. I put 80 hours into X in one week, and then I hit chapter 8, when the story revealed one of the bigger secrets as to why getting the rest of the ship was so imperative and what the timer meant. That blew my mind and I was so shocked I never picked the game up again lol I mean I traded my Wii U for a Ps4 but I definitely intend on picking that game up again if/when they remake it!

I'd play it for Ps4 or Switch, whichever remake came out first. Shoot I might double dip and but X for Ps4 for the graphics and Switch for the portability! I still bump the soundtrack from X haha I love it!

So how well do the games correlate to each other though? Should I pick up and beat Xenoblade Chronicles and then pick up xenoblade 2?

Wow, you really do love “X,” that’s awesome! I’m terms of a series, much like Final Fantasy, there is no “through-line” or overall story, more just little side-hints and refrences. For example, at one point in “X” I believe Lyn had Monado hair pins, which are of course a call out to the sword of the first game. Oh and Nopon, they are the main reoccurring character, althrough not a single character, just the race/species. They are basically Xenoblade’s Moogles.

So yeah, feel free to just grab “2” and jump in, you won’t be missing any major story beat or something. I do hope you enjoy it too. I am so far and I have a friend who this is his first Xenoblade and he’s really enjoying it as well.

Well now I know what i want for Christmas! Thanks for the info!

Good luck with the final boss! He was pretty tough when it first launched, but I think most people know what they are doing now.

And so far I am loving XC2! I haven't had too much time to play, but I really enjoy the gameplay and lore. Excited to see where things go.

On ps4 in bouncing between Sims 4 and Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2. I picked up dbxv and the season pass a couple weeks ago, and then they released a dlc pack not in the season pass, but as the start of a new season pass with 2 expansions. It's cool they keep adding new content since the games been out over a year though. I want to play Final fantasy xv again but can't find the time!

What I've been playing most of is the Dragon Ball Super Trading card game, now THAT has me hooked. If Bandai made a digital version of that game id buy it day 1!

Man, I think I would be a little peeved if I bought a season pass for a game just for the developer to release new content that wasn't included.

And how is Sims 4 on PS4? Did they create a control scheme that feels fluid enough?

I mean, they included 4 dlc packs in the $25 season pass, which was a years worth of content, so if you add in the new $18 dlc pack, that's $43 spent for a slew of additional stuff rather than popping $60 for a yearly release, so I don't mind too much, but that's just like my opinion man. Lol

Sims 4 is pretty dope, the controls were really weird at first, but all in all its a nice tight game. My girlfriend was making a Sim and found a way to change her height, however she couldn't remember and neither of us could find the option! Haha either way, I have the Ps4 Pro and it runs at 60 fps at most times (unless you're messing with the flow of time, I don't recommend x3 >>>) but other than that, just a few bugs. Nothing note worthy or as hilarious as the PC version from what I've seen, but a decent Sims experience.

I can say that I wish I could make the Sims more diverse/complex. I'm not sure if you've played Sims 3, but you were able to set 5 personality traits which really made a lot of Sims very different and more diverse, but now you can only set 3 personality traits, and I feel I'm more complex than 3 major defining factors of my personality lol

Also it's an EA title, so there is already over $60 with of DLC, but they included a lot of dlc the PC players had to buy separately, which is a decent amount!

To me Xenoblade Chronicles was an A+. Xenoblade Chronicles X was a C and Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is an A-. Happy with the game and impressed with how it came out in 3 years and five months while being co developed with X. I'm at the end of Yakuza kiwami and middle of uncharted lost legacy. Have 324 moons in Mario with many more to earn, I don't think I will get all of them but might try to get into the 600 range.

I feel like you just described my biggest issue: there are too many games to play! I prefer to focus on just a couple of games at a time, but I think that is impossible these days. Especially with so many big 40 hour games launching.

Right now I am playing:
Etrian Odyssey V
Super Mario Odyssey
Pentaro Odyssey 2: The Island

OK, that last one was a joke.

Are you playing them all on your Magnavox Odyssey?
