Happy Friday everyone! Today marks the end to 2017’s Paris Games Show. Sony certainly had some surprises up their sleeves, but how was the show as a whole? Welcome to Lgndary Thoughts!
Last week, I wrote about my hopes for Sony’s press conference the year. And I am very happy to say that I could not have been more wrong in my expectations. With the announcement of Ghost of Tsushima, the very thing I didn’t think would happen, did.
And man does it look awesome. I would have loved a new title in the Infamous series, but I am more than happy to “settle” for Ghost of Tsushima. A game based in feudal Japan isn’t exactly original, but the scale and quality we are seeing so far is. To be honest, it looks just like what I have always wanted out of the Assassin’s Creed series. A game that lets players explore different places throughout history in an open way. The difference with Ghost is that it won’t be bogged down by current day elements.
I also predicted that we would finally get a re-reveal of Media Molecule’s Dreams, another area where I was completely wrong. While Paris would have been the perfect place for an announcement, it looks like Media Molecule will be staying quiet for just a little bit longer. Luckily, Sony has been hinting that we may be seeing it again very soon. So here’s hoping for a big reveal at PSX next month.
To comment on the press conference as a whole, I think it was a modest success. Sony could have stood to have a few more bigger announcements, but I understand there are more shows to attend nowadays than there used to be, and staggering announcements is necessary. One area where Sony could have done better was God of War. This game is, apparently, launching in just a few months and we have still seen very little of it. I actually have a theory as to why this may be, but that is a Thought for another day!
What did you think of Sony’s press conference this year? Be sure to let me know in the comments below, and be sure to have a good weekend everyone!
