Lgndary Thoughts - October's PS Plus Lineup

Another Friday, another Thought. This week I would like to, finally, talk about this month’s PS Plus games. I usually try to have a discussion the week they get announced, but I was busy writing my review for The Solus Project and had to delay it until now. But better late than never! I'm also going to try and keep things short this week, so be sure to give it a read. Welcome to Lgndary Thoughts!

For those that still haven’t seen it, here is the PS Plus lineup for October:

  • Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, PS4
  • Amnesia Collection, PS4
  • Monster Jam Battlegrounds, PS3
  • Hustle Kings, PS3
  • Hue, PS Vita (Cross Buy with PS4)
  • Sky Force Anniversary, PS Vita (Cross Buy with PS4 & PS3)

What a lineup! This is easily the best PS Plus offering in a long time, especially when you look at the two PS4 games. The past several months have been better than usual, but they usually only offered one big title accompanied by less exciting games. This month, however, we get two (technically more, since it is a collection) great games.

Metal Gear Solid V, while not what a lot of people were hoping for, is a solid (pun intended) title that offers so much in its gameplay possibilities.

And the Amnesia collection, which includes The Dark Descent, Justine and A Machine For Pigs, are easily some of the most highly regarded horror games in years. Pretty smart for Sony to grab these in October as well.

The other games, like usual, are mostly unexciting and not really worth discussing. Instead, I would like to talk about PS Plus as a whole. This is now the 3rd month in a row that a AAA game has been in the lineup ( Just Cause 3, Infamous: Second Son, and now Metal Gear Solid V). With each month, it seems more and more likely that Sony is taking PS Plus more seriously, and offering much better games. I'm still not ready to fully trust that Sony is planning on keeping this trend up, but things are certainly looking good.

What do you think of this month's lineup? Be sure to let me know in the comments below!

NOTE: You will notice that I did not put up a poll like I usually do for PS Plus lineup posts. I decided against it in hopes that people will opt to have an actual discussion in the comments instead of just voting and moving on. So don't forget to leave a comment. Even if it is just to tell me that you prefer the polls. Thanks everyone!

This month is pretty awesome. I never thought they’d offer up MGSV but I suppose it’s sold so much already they probably aren’t losing much giving it away at this point. The rest I don’t have interest in but I’ll add them to my library and call it a day.

Yeah it is a little weird that we're getting such a big title. Maybe it has something to do with Konami not really caring about their game division anymore?

Yeah this month is fantastic. It might even be the best PS Plus lineup yet. But I’m actually really stoked for the Amnesia Collection. I tried playing the first one a while back and couldn’t get through it strictly from fear alone. I intend to finish it this time though. Even if my heart gives out
