SPECULATION - Next Call of Duty titled Infinite Warfare

Someone snagged this screenshot of a game called Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare on the PS Store. It appears to be real, but don't believe it completely until we get an official announcement.

Lgndary Thoughts - The Next God of War

A new batch of rumors have popped up this week. And instead of being about a new console, or an upgrade to a console, it is about an individual game. God of War. Welcome to Lgndary Thoughts!

The latest rumor regarding God of War has stated that the next game in the series will be based off of norse mythology. I have not posted this rumor to the site because I am very, very cautious about posting any rumor that doesn't look guaranteed. But I would still like to discuss it here.

In the concept art, it appears that the main character will yet again be Kratos. He looks a lot different, but it is definitely Kratos. So here is the question: is it actually the Kratos we know from the original trilogy? Or is it a reimagining of Kratos? Either way, I will be quite disappointed if Kratos is in the game at all.

I loved the God of War trilogy. The gameplay, the bosses, the story, I thought it was all great. But the worst thing about the series was Kratos. He wasn't likable in the slightest, and I think it hurt the game to some degree.

My ideal follow up to the God of War series would be set in a new mythology, with a brand new player character. I seriously have no idea why Santa Monica is so insistent on keeping Kratos as a main character.

Again, all of this information is based on a rumor, a rumor that I felt was not very reliable. Either way, a new God of War game is on the way, and maybe soon. Where would you like to see the series go? And do you think Kratos should continue to be the main character? Let me know in the comments!

WSJ: Sony planning new, more powerful PS4

Coming from the Wall Street Journal:

Sony Corp. is planning to sell a more powerful version of its PlayStation 4 machine to handle higher-end gaming experiences, including virtual reality, people familiar with the matter said, while continuing production of its existing console that has so far sold more than 36 million units world-wide.

Existing PlayStation 4 owners would need to buy the new model to take full advantage of the enhanced graphics and power, though it is likely that the current model and the coming one would share the same software catalog, one of the people said.

The new console would be announced before the planned October release of the PlayStation VR, Sony’s new virtual-reality headset, the people said. It would be able to handle ultra-high-definition resolution graphics. The upgraded console would also provide more power for running the PlayStation VR, whose main competitors, Facebook Inc.’s Oculus Rift and HTC Corp.’s Vive, are designed to work with top-shelf computers.

As long as every game continues to release on their old system, I would be fine if this news turned out to be true. Remember, this is just a rumor, so take it with some salt.

RUMOR - Sony working on a more powerful PS4

Kotaku has reported that they have had multiple sources come to them and tell them about a new console that Sony is working on. This isn't the PS5, but rather an upgrade to the PS4. Here is a portion of the Kotaku article:

Based on conversations with developers who have spoken with Sony, this ‘PS4.5’ will include an upgraded GPU both to support high-end 4K resolution for games and add more processing power that can enhance the games supported by PlayStation VR, the headset Sony will launch this fall. It’s unclear if ‘PS4.5’ is an official name or just a nickname that developers have been using. One developer jokingly called it the ‘PS4K’ while telling me about the device.

Could an announcement be around the corner?

RUMOR - 3D animator lists Knack II on resume

Take this with a grain of salt, as this information has since been deleted from their profile.

RUMOR - Next Assassin's Creed set in Egypt, won't be out this year

I don't often post rumors, but this one has more potential to be true than a lot of others. The rumor comes from 4chan, and the info provided has been backed up by Kotaku. I will post a small quote below and the rest of it can be found at the source link. Please take everything you read with a grain of salt.

Egypt. There won't be an AC in 2016. You may screencap this and refer to it when nothing is shown in E3 2016. You'll have to wait until 2017 for it. The reason: It will be a complete revamp of the series. The game is going for a Witcher feel, with player progression, freeform combat system. Horse is back, and boats too. It's made by the Black Flag team. You may leave any question you want answered.

RUMOR - Small details for Mass Effect: Andromeda Leak

Apparently someone who has access to an early build of Mass Effect: Andromeda has leaked details regarding the game. The leaker provided no proof publicly, but they did give enough information to moderators at Reddit that they believe them. Remember to take all of this with a healthy dose of salt, but here is what was leaked:

  • Same party-of-three setup of the last three games: you plus two squadmates.
  • Two of the squadmates include a petite, buxom, blonde human woman. And a krogan (spotted in the E3 trailer).
  • Play as "Pathfinder".
  • Tasked with finding a new home for the human race.
  • Other races included too, obviously.
  • Squadmates + yourself have jetpacks that play a key role in exploration.
  • Omni tool is more versatile with situational interactivity. EG: deploy a shield in combat.
  • Similar weapons as per previous games.
  • Quality of facial features and character models a major feature of rendering improvements.
  • Destructible cover.
  • New ship is an entirely new design plus new layout from the Normandy. Has a balcony to observe lower levels, and see stuff like the Mako, and a "Pathfinder's quarters".
  • Conduct "Strike" missions from ship.
  • Meeting room to interact with squad.
  • Mako more or less identical to what appeared in the E3 trailer. Likely customisable.
  • Character customisation includes armour, helmet, gauntlet, etc.
  • Traditional galaxy map navigation gone. Galaxy traversal now done via first person view of the ship, manually flying to locations.
  • FTL drive for rapid travel.
  • Markers on planets and what not for guiding.
  • Main alien enemies described as a cross between Vorcha and Collectors.
  • During early build combat enemies dropped in via Cerberus ships. Unsure if this is a placeholder or legit.
